The metal cabinet unlocks with a flat key on the side and folds forward for easy removal and replacement of new disposal containers. The .49" opening at the top uses a tube to feed sharps directly into the container (sold separately), promoting the vertical drop method, suggested for safety by the US Department of Health and Human services by minimizing the chances of accidental punctures during reorientation of needles.
